His induction into Marseille’s Club of Legends recognizes his significant impact at the club, joining notable names like Samir Nasri, Mamadou Niang, and Paulo Cezar.
At the club level, he had an impressive career, featuring for top European teams, including AC Milan and Marseille, and a stint in the English Premier League with QPR.
Marseille was Taiwo’s first European club, where he spent six years, making 271 appearances, scoring 25 goals, and providing 23 assists.
He won Ligue 1, the League Cup, and the French Super Cup before moving to AC Milan in 2011.
Taiwo, regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest left-backs, earned 54 caps for the Super Eagles between 2004 and 2011, scoring five goals. He retired in 2019.
