Man kills his two young kids, stabs his wife, then commits suicide

On Wednesday night, Dec 16, Tsepo Majola, 22, killed 2 two children, Boitumelo, 2, and her brother, Tebogo Khumbuleni,5, by cutting their throats at his home in Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, South Africa.

His body was found at the back of a house in Tembisa on Johannesburg’s East Rand, on Thursday, police said. Police spokesman Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said a relative found the man’s body lying at the back of a house in Phomolong in Tembisa. He had apparently committed suicide.

Earlier, police said the man arrived at his house in Phomolong on Wednesday evening and took his two children inside where he allegedly slit their throats with a knife. The five-year-old boy and the two year-old girl died instantly. He then left the kids and went to a nearby shebeen where he found their mother and allegedly stabbed her on the upper body. The mother is in hospital.

"A case of double murder, attempted murder and suspected suicide is being investigated," said Mofokeng.

"We can’t understand why he did such a thing," said Tsepo’s brother, Lucas.
"Boitumelo was sleeping on my chest when Tsepo came and took the children. We thought he wanted to put them to bed," said Lucas.
"About 30 minutes later Tsepo left. We didn’t follow him because we didn’t suspect anything was wrong."
But two hours later Lucas received a phone call.

"Tsepo told me he was sorry for what he had done. I went to the room and found Boitumelo and Tebogo. Their throats had been cut. There was blood everywhere."

For the rest of the night Tsepo was nowhere to be found and didn’t answer his phone.
"In the morning we got a call to say he had been found hanging in his room," said Lucas.
Tsepo’s mum was in the backyard room where Tsepo had hanged himself, but could not speak.
