No fewer than 1,264 schools within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja will be equipped with Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preventive items as the September 2nd resumption date nears.
According to the FCT Secretary for Education, Malam Kabir Usman, the FCT Administration has already commenced the distribution of the the items as directed by the Federal Government.
“We are gathered here today to begin the distribution of all the items required to ensure a safe and virus free school environment for our children" Usman said.
“The items include hand sanitisers, liquid soap, hand held thermometers, plastic buckets for running water, antibacterial liquids, hand gloves, sensitisation materials such as posters and handbills for each school.”
Usman said schools without potable water would be fitted with water tanks.
He revealed that distribution of the items will continue until the Ebola threat is eliminated, adding that the schools will also be fumigated.
