JUST IN: Resident Doctors Are Now Reinstated - FG

After 5 days of lamenting by the fired Residents Doctors who participated in the strike called by the Nigerian Medical Association(NMA), The Federal Government has listened and reinstated them back into the medical system. This was revealed by Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu after NMA had insisted that their members who represent a huge part of the  medical care officials in the nation be brought back.

The Minister spokesman, Dan Nwomeh revealed in a tweet that the sack decision had been reversed and the doctors are to come back to work immediately effective this Thursday.

The resident doctors are said to make up 70 per cent of the Nigerian doctors workforce.

Mr. Nwomeh said: Following the order, all Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of training centers have been directed to issue letters of reinstatement to the resident doctors.

He said that the decision to let the Doctors come back is a sign of good will by the Federal Government and he urged them to put greater commitment and dedication to their duties.

On August 13th, Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu sacked all the resident doctors and revealed that they will stop the  residency training until further notice.

This decision was met by more protests by the obviously angered Doctors.
